Diverse group of empowered survivors standing together

Our story

Born from survival. Built for change.

Wear Ur Scars exists because survivors deserve more than a safety net — they deserve systems, skills, and a community built to help them rise.

Mission

To equip domestic violence survivors with the training, transition support, and technology they need to reclaim their lives and build futures on their own terms.

Vision

A world where every survivor has the tools, confidence, and community to thrive — where scars are not sources of shame, but symbols of strength.

Our founding story

We started where most organizations stop.

Wear Ur Scars was founded by survivors, for survivors. We saw firsthand that leaving an abusive situation is only the beginning — the real challenge is rebuilding. Finding stable housing, employment, financial independence, and a sense of self after trauma is a journey most people face alone.

We built Wear Ur Scars to change that. By combining workforce training, life transition support, and purpose-built technology, we created a pathway — not a charity, not a helpline, but a movement. Our name says it all: your scars are not something to hide. They are proof of what you survived, and the foundation of who you are becoming.

Today we serve survivors across communities, providing hands-on programs, peer mentorship, and digital tools designed specifically for people rebuilding after domestic violence.

What we stand for

Survivor-led

Every program, tool, and decision is shaped by the lived experience of survivors.

Dignity first

We treat every person we serve with unconditional respect and without judgment.

Radical inclusion

Our doors are open to all survivors regardless of gender, background, or circumstance.

Accountability

We hold ourselves to the highest standards — to our community, our partners, and each other.
